Co-Host, “All Around Atlanta with Joe & Natalie”
Over the course of 15 years, Joe Somerville has built a successful business through his enjoyment of telling someone’s story. Be it introducing a chef, restaurant owner or the character of a quaint bistro, Somerville’s relationships “all around Atlanta” have allowed him to share those stories and entice consumers to experience them for themselves.
His multimedia company, All Around Media LLC, is emerging as a solid and unique marketing solution for restaurateurs and other hospitality professionals, but the longtime Atlanta resident’s entrepreneurial knack dates as early as 1979 when he moved to Atlanta. His endeavors included opening a small business counseling practice in the early 1980s and working in commercial real estate development, but it was his reflection upon previous work in corporate America – with Oscar Mayer & Co. – that piqued his interest in cooking and restaurants.
This interest led him in 1989 to serve as associate publisher for TRAVELHOST Atlanta, an in-room hotel magazine and guide to the city’s dining, entertainment and cultural attractions. Somerville’s work with the magazine allowed him to begin developing key relationships within the hospitality industry, as well as formulate strategic media partnerships. When he sold TRAVELHOST in 2001, Somerville’s passion and experience embarked on the lucrative path to launching All Around Media, LLC in 2002.
With business associate and show co-host Natalie Taylor, Somerville took the “All Around Atlanta with Joe & Natalie” concept to hospitality industry contacts old and new, secured partnerships with local media outlets and hit the airwaves and cyberspace. The pair runs all aspects of the company, which includes their television show airing locally on PAX TV and Charter Cable, a radio show airing on WCLK-FM and a family of Web sites.
Today, the “All Around Atlanta” family includes more than 40 restaurants that actively market their offerings, with Joe and Natalie introducing it to prospective diners across the metro area. They are consumers telling stories to fellow consumers – and building relationships “all around Atlanta” that help a business succeed.
